Horses are large and powerful, which creates a natural opportunity to overcome fear and develop confidence. The size and power of the horse are naturally intimidating to many people. Accomplishing a task involving horses, in spite of those fears, creates confidence and provides wonderful metaphors when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life.
Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT)
A unique and powerful model of therapy which incorporates horses experientially for emotional growth and healing. Equine Assisted Therapy is a collaborative team approach between a mental health professional and an equine specialist working together within a treatment team including horses to address clients' treatment goals. Anything you would seek counselling for with a traditional "talk therapy" approach can be addressed; anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, grief/bereavement, addictions, relationship issues, anger management, stress, disordered eating, etc.
No riding involved, clients, therapists & horses are all on an equal ground.
